making CBD and THC smoothies

The cannabis industry has been growing at an unprecedented rate in the last few years. So much so that it has become one of the fastest-growing verticals within the healthcare sector.

These hemp-based products are gaining popularity for their medicinal and therapeutic properties. Studies show that cannabidiol can relieve pain, treat anxiety and nausea.

If you think that smoking cannabis might be the only way to enjoy these benefits, you are wrong!

Adding marijuana to your everyday life through green smoothies might be the best decision you make. Read on to learn more about why you should try smoothies laced with marijuana and how to make them.

Is drinking marijuana healthy?

Most people associate marijuana with red eyes and a raving appetite. The name of the molecule responsible for these effects is THC. However, THC is only one out of over a hundred compounds found in the cannabis plant.

The other non-psychoactive compounds in the plant have several health benefits. Essentially, the cannabis plant is a leafy green vegetable, the kind we often associate with health and nutrition, much like spinach or kale.

Hence, marijuana can work as a green superfood packed with healthy compounds.

As a result, adding marijuana to a healthy green smoothie might not be that crazy idea! When consumed as a part of a smoothie, marijuana can retain its vitamins and minerals.

Additionally, the compounds still influence your endocannabinoid system, allowing you to enjoy all its benefits.

Can you add marijuana to smoothies?

In case you are looking for a healthier yet effective way to ingest cannabis, then blending it with your smoothie might be a perfect pick.

Self-made smoothies are getting popular in recent years for being extremely nutritious and healthy. Adding marijuana either as THC, or CBD, or even both can help further spice up your smoothies.

You can make these smoothies relatively quickly and with comfort. The most integral part of making these smoothies is procuring THC and CBD in a carrier that mixes with your drink.

Some ingredients that you will need to make these super smoothies are as follow:

  1. Regular milk or any non-dairy alternative, such as almond or soy milk.
  2. Whipping cream, if required
  3. Honey, sugar, or stevia
  4. Vanilla or rose essence for added flavour
  5. Any fruit you love, like strawberries, mangos, kiwis, or bananas

Try to be creative with fruits because a combination of a few tends to taste pleasanter than adding just one. For example, the combination of banana and strawberry or any berry usually works wonders.

Adding marijuana to smoothies

Now that you have all the required components let us take a look at the most important one – marijuana. The more requisite thing is figuring out how to get the CBD or THC in their natural form into the smoothie efficiently.

Most techniques might leave behind chewy stalks, calyxes, and leaves, which can adversely affect how the smoothies taste. Hence, adding marijuana to smoothies requires a carrier material, and the most popular option for it is butter.

However, you can use the following recipe to mix THC and Sunday Scaries CBD into milk or cream. Another option is to make a juice of the raw cannabis and then add your favourite fruits or vegetables to it. Let us now take a closer look at all these options.

Juicing raw marijuana

To juice marijuana, roll up all the cannabis leaves into tight cylinders, and put them in a processor or juicer. Next, chop up your favourite vegetables or fruits and combine them into the juicer.

Make sure you add those ingredients that have high water content, such as apples and cucumbers. You can expect the best results if you use a wheatgrass juicer as they work at lower temperatures, helping cannabis retain all its nutrients.

Here is a swift glance at the benefits of adding marijuana to your smoothies.

  1. Make it easier for your body to digest the nutrients found in the fruits or vegetables since the juicer or processor removes the unnecessary fibre.
  2. Juicing leads to higher nutritional concentrations, making it healthier for you.
  3. The smoother effect, since having the same amount of raw cannabis can produce adverse side effects.
  4. Help convert a handful of fruits and vegetables into a wholesome meal.
  5. Make it easier for people to meet their daily intake of vegetables or fruits if they do not fancy how it tastes.

Hence, adding marijuana to smoothies may be the best way to ingest raw cannabis. Smoking exposes hemp-derived molecules to heat, which can degrade their nutritional content. When consumed uncooked, these compounds become acids making them easier to ingest or absorb.

Additionally, these acids do not act how their decarboxylated alternatives do in our bodies. Hence, THCA - the acidic counterpart of THC, does not produce psychoactive effects as it interacts with the CB1 receptor weakly. CBDA, on the other hand, can even help with the production of serotonin in the body, helping improve your mood.

Creating marijuana-induced milk

Take about 4 grams of cannabis buds and grind them into a fine powder. Next, heat the mixture at around 65°C. Since these compounds blend well with fat, you should combine cream or milk to bind it.

Milk, on its own, has a low percentage of fat, making it difficult for cannabis to mix with it. The cream helps act as the binding agent for the mixture.

However, make sure you do not raise the temperature as you are not supposed to boil it during this process. Once the milk-cream blend starts to simmer, add the herbs to it and keep stirring.

Higher temperatures break down the THC molecules, which degrades the overall potency of the concoction. Let the mixture simmer for around an hour or three to ensure the carrier stays well tied.

Over time, you will notice that the mixture is changing its colour and thickening into a well-bonded compound. Experts believe that the process of marijuana entering the milk can last from anywhere between two to eight hours. Lastly, take the mixture off the stove and filter it to remove the bud's remains from the liquid. The infusion process is now complete, and you can utilize the blend once it cools down.
